(ABC 6 News) — Much real vikings, the Hayfield Vikings baseball team left little in their wake Saturday.

Hayfield was at the Rushford-Peterson Invitational, as were the host Trojans along with Spring Grove and Goodhue. But the Vikings asserted their authority in a dominating two-game effort.

With a tournament mindset in lieu of the looming sectionals, the Vikings obliterated Goodhue in their first game, 14-4. Hayfield was already up 11-0 in the fourth inning, when Easton Fritcher would belt a sac fly into deep right to bring home teammate Zander Jacobson. Nolan Klocke’s 2-RBI hit into deep would provide the cherry on top.

The Vikings’ next opponent were the host Trojans, and the initial 0-0 draw didn’t last very long; Isaac Watson got the game’s first RBI when he hit a single up the middle. Later in the second inning, Fritcher came in huge again, this time hitting a grand slam. Everything after would prove to be academic for Hayfield, winning 14-1 over Rushford-Peterson.
