(ABC 6 News) - After a 5-5 year in 2018, the Mabel-Canton Cougars look to improve in hyper-competitive section.
Between Spring Grove and Grand Meadow, the Cougars have their hands full in their section of 9-man football. Last season the team cruised into sections with a .500 record before dismantling Cleveland 62-30. But with top-tier talent still alive in a win-or-go-home scenario, the Cougars lost to eventual state champion Spring Grove to close out their season.
Mabel-Canton lost a majority of their starters, but think their running game will help them offset the changes to their roster.
Long-time coach Karl Urbaniak is excited to mold the next group of Cougars as new faces join the program.
