(ABC 6 News) - The world of Minnesota basketball lit up Saturday when twins Mason and Gabe Madsen announced their commitment to play basketball at Cincinnati.
The two have been stellar for Mayo High School in the last few years, pouring shots in by the dozens. As good as they are together on the court, they wanted to continue their basketball journey together.
"We didn't have schools that kind of aligned and checked all the boxes for both of us," Mason said. "So I think there was a little point in there where we were like 'I don't now if we are going to end up going together.' But obviously we're glad that we did, because that's probably deep down what both of us wanted."
The Bearcats welcome a new head coach in John Brannen this season. Despite a new face at the helm of the program, the Madsens appreciated the history and success of Cincinnati's program and think Brannen will grow it even more.
To hear more of their commitment to Cincinnati and how their relationship contributed to the decision, tune in to Sports Zone Friday at 10.
