(ABC 6 News) — It was a battle of Big 9 powerhouses in Rochester Friday afternoon.

The Owatonna Huskies and Century Panthers girls lacrosse teams put on a show with the former trying to stay ahead in the first half. Olivia Morrissey kept the Panthers alive with a great angle for a goal to cut Owatonna’s lead to 4-1.

Century teammate Sophie Langsdale would get past three defenders to score on the run as the Panthers kept up the pursuit. Langsdale delivered again on a penalty shot to close in on Owatonna in a 6-4 score.

Century’s offense stayed aggressive in the second half, eventually nabbing a 7-6 lead. Unfortunately, the score wouldn’t hold as the Huskies retook control, winning 8-7 to stay on top of Century in the Big 9 standings.
