(ABC 6 News) – In Caledonia, senior Owen King has had a storied high school sports career on the gridiron and the hardwood—and the accolades keep coming.

The Minnesota Mr. Basketball Committee has named King one of five finalists for the prestigious individual honor. King is joined by Apple Valley guard Tre Jones, DeLaSalle guard Gabe Kalscheur, Delano guard Calvin Wishart, and Cretin-Derham Hall center Daniel Oturu.

King, who quarterbacked Caledonia to three consecutive MSHSL Class AA football championships, was also named a Minnesota Mr. Football Finalist in the fall. In basketball, King has helped lead the Warriors to three Class AA state boys basketball tournaments (2014-2016).

Following high school, King will play collegiate basketball at South Dakota State University. Fellow finalists Jones (Duke), Kalscheur (Minnesota), Wishart (Georgia Southern), and Oturu (Minnesota) are also planning on playing collegiate basketball next year.

The Mr. Basketball award is scheduled to be announced on March 28 during the Minnesota Timberwolves home game versus Atlanta.
