(ABC 6 News) – For a 5th straight season, the Caledonia Warriors are one of the final eight teams in the Class AA state football playoffs—and for a fifth straight year, they’re one of the final four teams remaining.
On a snowy field and cold Friday evening in Burnsville, the Warriors dominated the NRHEG Panthers in their quarterfinal playoff game, 41-0. Besides shutting out the Panthers, Caledonia’s defense held the NRHEG offense to 71 total yards.
Caledonia wide receiver Tate Meiners caught three passes for 80 receiving yards and caught one touchdown pass. At halftime, the Warriors led NRHEG, 34-0.
With the win, the Warriors, the three-time defending Class AA state football champions, have won 52 football games in a row.
For a second consecutive season, Caledonia will play Paynesville in Thursday’s Class AA semifinals at US Bank Stadium. Last year, the Warriors defeated Paynesville, 49-16.
