(ABC 6 News) - The top-seeded Caledonia Warriors beat Stewartville 71-53 Thursday night to return to state for the first time since 2018.
The Tigers came out firing in the first half. Junior Will Tschetter was wreaking havoc for Stewartville, keeping the game close. He and the Warriors were neck-and-neck in the first half.
Thanks to some hot shooting in the second half, the Warriors started to create some distance on the scoreboard. Senior Noah King says the defense stepped up early out of the locker room which set the tone for the rest of the game. Now going to state with just one loss, the Warriors are ready to see what their depth can do against the best Minnesota has to offer.
"We pride ourselves on our depth and I think there's no team in the state that has as many guys with as much talent as we do," King said.
The Warriors await their seeding for the state tournament, which is set for next weekend in Minneapolis.
