(ABC 6 News) - The Lourdes girls hockey team dominated Faribault Thursday night 5-1 to win their second straight section 1A title.

After a scoreless first period against the Falcons in the first matchup between these teams this season, Head Coach Jeff True was simply hoping for a close first period on Thursday. He didn't get it, but you'll hear no complaint from him. The Eagles scored early in the first period thanks to senior Emma Schmitz finding senior Sarah Dravis for a goal. That set the tone for the Eagle.

"That first goal meant everything because I knew once I got that goal we would win that game and it would get everyone ready to go," Dravis said.

There was no slowing down Lourdes after that, as Sawyer Fleming, Isabelle Heim and Delaney Fleming all found the net in the first period to give Lourdes a 4-0 lead at the first intermission.

While the goals slowed, the barrage of offensive chances didn't for the Eagles. They peppered the Falcons and played with the confidence a team needs in the postseason. The Eagles added another goal in the second period before the Falcons finally broke through with one of their own in the third.

After an impressive 5-1 win, the Eagles return to state, hungry to improve on their performance against Minnesota's best last season.
