(ABC 6 News) – The Austin Packers boys’ soccer team is going for their second consecutive Class A State Soccer tournament berth this week, and there will be more eyes on their star senior in the middle of the pitch.

The Minnesota High School Soccer Coaches Association has recognized Austin senior midfielder Kevin Ortiz as one of five finalists for Minnesota’s Mr. Soccer Award for Class A boys’ soccer. According to Minnesota Soccer Hub, Ortiz tied for a team-high 10 goals during the regular season and added a team-best seven assists.

The winners of the Mr. and Miss Soccer Awards will be announced on Sunday at the Minnesota High School Soccer Coaches Association Awards Banquet.
