The Austin Bruins are in the middle of perhaps the most important week of their year. The team is hosting a training camp with a goal of cutting down the 150 players trying out down to a group of 25-30 players that will fill this season's roster.
The team made the playoffs last season before losing in the first round to the eventual Robertson Cup Champion Aberdeen Wings.
Players from all over the globe were hoping to solidify a roster spot during camp. In his third season as head coach, Steve Howard is excited to piece together a roster and begin the hunt for a title.
"We've had some good players come in and show themselves really well up to this point. But as it gets whittled down the level goes up, the speed goes up, and ultimately we want to make sure we're ready to go in September."
The Bruins will continue to make cuts this week. Austin's first All-Star game, which will be one of the last rounds of cuts, will be played Friday morning.
