(ABC 6 News) -- The weather was perfect for athletes competing in the Area 10 Special Olympics Track and Field Competition on Saturday.
Five teams from around Southern Minnesota gathered at John Marshall High School Tract Saturday morning to compete in various events.
Special Olympic athletes from Rochester, Owatonna, Northfield, Fillmore and Freeborn Counties bested it out in the 25-meter walk, 800-meter walk, 50-meter and 400-meter dash, shotput, softball throw, running and standing long jump.
Three athletes who are in wheelchairs competed in the 25-meter obstacle course, and the 25-meter and 50-meter slaloms.
Winning athletes move on to compete at the Minnesota Special Olympics State Championships at St. Thomas University in St. Paul in June.
