(ABC 6 News)-  The Spring Grove Lions football team are coming off of a big win over the previously undefeated Houston Hurricanes.  The Lions have been led by their Junior quarterback, safety, and special teams ace, Alex Folz.

Folz isn’t just a member of the Lions football team, he is an all-around standout athlete who plays basketball and baseball as well.

“It helps a lot because going from football to basketball, basketball, baseball they all help you because you just stay up with your athleticism,” Folz said.

“He’s very shifty, very quick, very fast and can run really hard,” Head Coach Zach Hauser said.  “Fortunately for us he's able to throw the ball really well.  He has a really strong arm, he's accurate and makes good decisions on the field.”

However, Foltz hasn’t just been a quarterback on offense.

“I was a running back before this and with my mobility and the arm strength, I think they are a good combination,” Folz said.

“When you put a guy back there that can do all those things it’s pretty special,” Hauser said.

With Foltz running the offense, the Lions are averaging close to 52 points per game.

“Alex plays a huge role on this team, without him we wouldn’t be able to do what we do on offense,” Hauser said.

Folz has 23 touchdowns, totaling 1,379 yards, which has helped lift this team to a perfect 6-0 record.

Folz and the Lions return to the gridiron on Friday where they will host the 5-1 Grand Meadow Superlarks.
