(ABC 6 News) - The Tigers lose depth, but bring back heavy hitters for 2019 season.
Albert Lea went 2-7 in 2018, but their record doesn't tell the whole story. Four of the Tigers' losses were decided by a single possession.
Head Coach Corey Black is using that in practice to drive the idea of consistency and conditioning into his players.
He also thinks that the team is bringing back a substantial number of experienced position players. This includes J.J. Mucha-Owens, the do-it-all running back who found success out of the backfield last year.
But of all the positions on the team, Black is most excited for his guys in the trenches on offense.
"I would put our line up with pretty much anybody in our district at this point in time. For us we're going to be physical, we're going to be fast and we're going to hit people hard and that is really going to set the tone for how we play the rest of the game," Black said.
Albert Lea starts the season August 30 against Winona.
