(ABC 6 News) — Riding a 2-game win streak, Albert Lea Grizzlies football aimed to make it three straight wins on Saturday.

Facing the Mountain Lake Lakers, the task ended being more difficult than anticipated. After Albert Lea scored the opening touchdown, the Lakers found their groove in the second quarter. QB Kris Menken ran in a touchdown to put Mountain Lake on the board, followed by a 2-point conversion.

As Albert Lea went on offense, the Grizzlies stagnated as QB Trevon Wilkenson was sacked on a third down attempt. The Lakers proceeded to score again off a Menken run followed by another successful 2-point try.

The Grizzlies seemed to have a reprieve in the final minutes of the first half as the Lakers muffed and lost a punt in their own territory. However, a Wilkenson pass to the end zone resulted in an interception. Albert Lea’s touchdown ended up being their only score of the day, losing to Mountain Lake, 22-7.

The Grizzlies are off the next two weeks and will play again on June 11th, hosting the Central Iowa Chiefs.
