(ABC 6 News) - A Three Rivers Conference showdown in St. Charles, MN for this week's Scheels Game of the Week.
The St. Charles Saints hosted the Chatfield Gophers and were looking to snap their losing streak against their conference rival. Going into Friday's matchup, both teams were 4-2 on the season and both coming off big wins.
Turnovers were a problem for both teams in the first quarter. Then Chatfield's offense locked in. Late in the first quarter, Gophers' quarterback Reid Johnson moved his team down the field and had a couple big plays which included another first down after he connected with Max Aug downfield, later handing it off to Ben Roline who got his team in a good spot to score.
At the start of the 2nd quarter, Gophers are close to scoring, but St. Charles defense is making them work for it. On 3rd and goal, Johnson found Masyn Remme in the endzone for a touchdown.
Gophers took a 7-0 lead into halftime and that score held until the end.
