(ABC 6 News) - The State of the City was held Friday by Rochester Mayor Kim Norton and ABC 6 News spoke with people to see what they think the state of the city is in Rochester.

Some had a lot to say, others had little to say.

A man from Colorado has visited Rochester for about four years for appointments at Mayo Clinic.

He feels the city is nice and the people are welcoming.

"Keep it nice, keep it friendly, keep it Minnesota, keep it snowing," Timms Fowler said.

A Rochester woman said she applauds the mayor for working throughout the pandemic and while she does feel safe, she wishes there was more being done about some COVID safety measures.

"I do feel mostly safe here, I do wish we had a mask mandate even though I am vaccinated and boosted. I do think that would take the stress off of everybody if it was just one way or the other," Lynn Reuvers said.

As for the future of the city, Reuvers said she has seen positives already and has loved seeing the children's museum grow as well as other events like the Roller Disco and Farmers Market, but she also hopes to see improvements.

"With the Y closing that broke my heart, all my kids did programs in the Y. I think we need to continue what we are doing but reemphasize that this is a city for everybody and make it affordable for all the people who live and keep making it more fun! More fun every single year," Reuvers said.

She also mentioned she hopes to see more affordable housing come into place in the city.
