Senior living community hosts drive-through celebration

(ABC 6 News) – There’s nothing like a big holiday light display to put people in the mood to celebrate.

Rochester residents were invited to a drive-through celebration tonight at The Waters on Mayowood senior living community. Guests were greeted by quite the festive occasion.

There are holiday lights strung up on the trees and residents’ balconies. There was also a bonfire burning and Mr. And Mrs. Claus handed out holiday treats.

Four strolling carolers wearing old-fashioned dresses sang their hearts out. Residents and families got to drive through the event.

"It’s very important we feel because it’s a time people are really feeling some challenges with the pandemic and maybe just not being with family and this is just an opportunity to really bring people out and do it in a safe fun environment," Active Life Manager, Marni Harris said.

This was the first year Maywood held the event, after a year of other outdoor events.
