(ABC 6 News) - Rochester Police responded to a burglary Thursday afternoon in northeast Rochester.
Police say the burglary occurred at a vacant storefront near the 3800 block of North Broadway sometime between March 28 and Thursday.
According to police, dispatch received a call to help the fire department after crews responded to that building regarding a gas leak.
Officials say someone walking by the building smelled natural gas and called police.
When it was safe crews went into the building. They learned a natural gas heater called a heat wagon had been stolen from the building.
Police say when the suspect stole the heater, they did not turn off the natural gas. The incident remains under investigation.
