UPDATE: Suspect in Friday night shooting in NW Rochester turns himself in

(ABC 6 News) - UPDATE: The Rochester Police Department said the suspect in Friday night's shooting has turned himself in.

18-year-old Colby Cleveland turned himself in to police Tuesday afternoon.

He's facing possible charges of 2nd-degree attempted murder and 2nd-degree assault with a dangerous weapon causing substantial bodily harm.

Police believe the confrontation was over finances.

The Rochester Police Department said the suspect in Friday night's shooting has not been located as of Monday morning.

Police said the 18-year-old left the area Friday night in a black 4-door Sedan. The suspect's name has not been released and will be available pending an arrest or a signed criminal complaint.

Rochester police are investigating a shooting in the northwest part of the city.

Just after 7:30 p.m. Friday, police responded to the Villages at Essex Park apartments for a report of shots fired.

When officers arrived, they found a victim in their 50s with a single gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was taken to St. Marys with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police tell us the suspect and victim are known to each other, possibly father and son. RPD believes the incident started following an argument.

Witnesses reported hearing at least two gunshots. Officers believe this was an isolated incident and that there is no threat to the public. 

No arrests have been made at this time. Police are urging the suspect to come forward.

“We’re actively looking for him. We’re working on some leads. This person knows what they did. We’d encourage him to call police and turn himself in so we can talk to him and find out exactly what happened," says Lt. James Evenson, Rochester Police Department.
