(ABC 6 News) - Rochester law enforcement is supporting an executive order by Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for citizens to “Stay at Home.”
The Rochester Police Department and Olmsted County Sheriff Office are strongly encouraging residents to follow the guidelines set in an executive order issued by Gov. Walz for people to stay home. However, local law enforcement will not be actively seeking out those violating the order.
While other states request those traveling on the road carry with them documentation stating permission to travel, Minnesota law enforcement is not checking for such paperwork.
“We encourage people to use their best sense of judgment in determining whether they must travel,” said Olmsted County Sheriff Kevin Torgerson. “Staying at home and isolated away from other people is in the best interest of everyone’s health and safety at this time including our deputies and officers.”
