(ABC 6 News) -- A Rochester man could face charges following a fatal crash on Saturday.

It happened on the 2400 block of 20th Street SE around 10:30 p.m. on May 15.

According to Rochester Police, 41-year-old Will Hanson of Rochester was driving a 2012 Dodge Ram Pickup west on 20th Street. Hanson told police a person appeared on the road and he didn't have time to stop before hitting the person.

When authorities arrived on the scene, the victim, 48-year-old Joseph Rodriguez of Rochester, was on the road. Hanson was still at the scene.

Rodriguez was transported by Mayo Clinic Ambulance to Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said they had evidence to believe Hanson was under the influence at the time of the crash.

He was taken into custody where authorities obtained a warrant to have his blood drawn and sent to the BCA for testing.

Charges against Hanson are pending blood test results.
