Rochester man charged with kidnapping, arson takes plea deal

(ABC 6 News) – A Rochester man accused of kidnapping a woman and setting fire to a house in Pine Island has pleaded guilty.
Michael Steven Drury, 52, pleaded guilty Thursday to first-degree arson. As part of a Plea agreement charges of kidnapping, first-degree burglary, false imprisonment, terroristic threats, second-degree assault, and first-degree arson were dropped.

He is accused of forcing a woman into her car and to her home in Pine Island, where she escaped and contacted law enforcement.
After police arrived, Drury allegedly threatened to burn the house down, then set fire to a lower portion and exited through the garage.

A judge asked for a competency assessment back in May. Drury was found competent on June 8 and his trial had been scheduled to start on July 5.
Drury also pleaded guilty to two counts of gross misdemeanor domestic abuse no-contact-order violation Thursday, out of the seven of which he was accused.
Sentencing for both cases is scheduled for September 19.
