(ABC 6 News) - The Rochester Police Department was called to a reported domestic assault Wednesday afternoon in the northwest part of town.

Officials say 32-year-old Alex Loza of Rochester had an argument with the 25-year-old victim after finding the victim's child had wet clothing.

The victim reportedly became upset at Loza and shut herself in the bedroom. On the way to the bedroom, officials say the victim knocked over the child.

According to RPD, Loza went into the room and assaulted the victim. The woman reportedly told Loza she was going to call the police when he took the phone and kicked it under the bed. Officials say Loza then pushed the victim onto the bed. The woman was eventually able to call her cousin for help and then call 911.

Loza reportedly told police the victim was punching him. Loza was taken into custody on possible charges of domestic assault, interfering with a 911 call and 3rd-degree assault of an unborn child.
