(ABC 6 News) -- A lot of events have been canceled this year due to the pandemic. However, one fun activity in Rochester is starting back up again.

The Fall Spectacular: Craft and Vendor Show had their first event since March. ABC 6 News spoke with local artists to why they appreciate going back to them now more than ever.

"People are actually interested in something I just created. For someone to come and take the time to look at something and want to have it on their wall that I made in my basement is awesome, it makes me feel good,” artist Bahama Boehmke said.

Bahama Boehmke specializes in artwork that’s called Acrylic Cup Pours.

"Every single one is different, you can never recreate any of these,” Boehmke said.

The pandemic has been tough for new artists. Now, canceled shows forced him to sell his work online.

"This is my first event that I've ever even set up at. A lot of the stuff I had planned to do this summer has gotten canceled and I saw this one and I figured I'd come setup and see what happens,” Boehmke said.

By showcasing his work, persevering through the pandemic, in hopes, he'll fulfill his dream to become a full-time artist.

"With events like this, you get to meet people and get to spread your work a little bit and it can't hurt,” Boehmke said.

Sherri Emedo is a sewer that makes bookmarks, teddy bears, and pillows. She has been crafting since she was 9 years old and in 2016 she started her crafting business. Since then she has been to more than 20 fairs with this one being the first in quite some time.

"It feels really good. It's good to talk to the people that come through as well as letting them see what I make and give them an opportunity to buy what I do. It just feels really good to know that people are getting back out into the community and have a chance to meet other people,” Emedo said.

Tony Events hosted the craft and vendor fair at the Empire Event Center. They will have another craft and vendor fair on October 31.
