(ABC 6 News) - A new program launched Thursday encourages individuals to shop in Downtown Rochester.
Through October 31, when the public shops, dines, or supports a service business downtown, they will get a three-hour free parking voucher at check-out to use at any of the six municipal ramps.
Each customer-facing business in downtown Rochester that wishes to participate will receive a set of pre-paid parking vouchers to distribute to customers at their register.
A purchase is required at the business to receive a parking voucher, which are available while supplies last and expire October 31, 2020.
“We still have some great weather coming our way to enjoy outdoor dining, and we’re heading into early holiday shopping season,” said Holly Masek, RDA executive director. “We hope the attraction of free parking will remind customers how fun and accessible a visit to downtown can be, and how important it is for local residents to support their local business community.”
The Downtown Free Parking Program is funded by the City of Rochester (CARES) funding and administered by the Rochester Downtown Alliance as a way to drive business back to downtown, remove a perceived barrier to shopping downtown (cost of parking), and utilize CARES funding to support small businesses.
