(ABC 6 News) -- One person was injured after a car crashed into an apartment in northwest Rochester on Sunday morning.

The Rochester Fire Department said they were called to Essex Apartments on 41st St. around 11:00 a.m. for a crash. When they arrived at the scene, firefighters said they saw a car inside an apartment at the ground level of the building. They said residents were in the living room at the time of the crash. One of the residents was injured by flying debris. That person was treated by emergency crews at the scene.

The driver of the car was also evaluated for injuries and treated right there.

The American Red Cross is helping displaced residents of the apartment where the car landed and residents above their unit while investigators check the integrity of the building.
