(ABC 6 News) - One Discovery Square in Rochester is known for putting on events to connect the community. This month, they are honoring National Inventors Month with a virtual LEGO challenge.
The contest kicked off on Wednesday at noon and will run through June 2nd at 5 p.m. The goal is to build a structure that signifies a "connection to your community," according to the event information on Facebook.
"This wasn't one that we specifically planned prior but it just ended up fitting the mission of One Discovery Square, being innovative and creative while also fitting in with the COVID world," Meghann Southwick, One Discovery Square's community event manager, said.
The contest is open to everyone and can be done in singles or a group. However, One Discovery Square is encouraging participants to collaborate since families are staying in due to the pandemic.
"There are places I'm sure people are missing right now and wish they could go... grab an appetizer at a certain restaurant or something and talk to those people that they love," Southwick said. "I think this is just a chance for people to take a breather and connect with the people around them and also the community."
The prize is a $50 gift card to any Rochester business of choice.
