Mural Grant program available to downtown Rochester businesses, properties

(ABC 6 News) – The Rochester Downtown Alliance (RDA) announced a new Mural Grant program available to downtown businesses and properties.

The program offers business and property owners the opportunity to receive up to $5,000 in matching funds for a mural on a public-facing exterior facade.

The Mural Grant Program utilizes American Rescue Plan Act funds through the City of Rochester to install a new mural within the 44 block downtown special service district.

“The City of Rochester and the RDA recognize the importance of a high-quality pedestrian experience and cultural infrastructure to the continued success of downtown Rochester,” said Holly Masek, RDA executive director. “The Mural Grant Program is intended to help encourage collaboration and creativity between business and artists and enhance the vitality of downtown.”

In addition to granting up to $5,000 for each mural, the RDA will coordinate a public event around the mural installation that will include an artist meet and greet, live music, and refreshments.

The full Mural Grant Program guidelines and funding requirements can be found at HERE.

Business or property owners with questions about the Mural Grant Program can contact Naura Anderson, RDA public space coordinator, at publicspace@downtownrochestermn.com or 507-218-4342.

Anderson will assist business or property owners in connecting with artists based on desired style or imagery for the mural.
