(ABC 6 News) - Medical professionals recommend that you get a flu shot this year, and Mayo Clinic is using this opportunity to prepare for mass vaccination clinics.
ABC 6 News with a look inside Mayo Clinic's vaccine clinic as it prepares to open next week. Monday's test run gave the clinic a chance to make sure everything runs safely and efficiently once it's open.
Patients come in through a safe central location, so they are not around other patients. All patients will be screened, and everyone over the age of two will be required to wear a mask.
"We can't practice some mass vaccination where we all crowd up in lines and get that vaccine. Somehow we have to do it just as we are doing the flu vaccine. So, what we're setting up here today, to be conducting in the weeks to come, will also be how we're going to be approaching the COVID-19 vaccine, once we have it, " says Dr. Robert Jacobson .Dr. Jacobson is a Pediatrician at Mayo Clinic, Professor of Pediatrics and Medical Director of Primary Care Immunizations Program.
The clinic will open on October 12.
