(ABC 6 News) - We’ve been living in this pandemic now for almost a year, we all want things to get back to normal, but can they?

Earlier this week the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said if you're fully vaccinated you can see others that are as well.

They say you can visit with other people who are fully vaccinated indoors without wearing masks and you can visit with unvaccinated people from other households without wearing masks if those people are low risk.

Doctor Gregory Poland with Mayo Clinic says this is a good step in the right direction in decreasing social isolation the pandemic has caused.

“Fully vaccinated people have a very small risk of transmitting the virus to somebody else. So these recommendations key off that if you will. It’s the fulcrum of the teeter-totter balance they're trying to achieve,” Dr. Poland said.

Doctor Poland says to still be cautious and wear your mask, even if you are fully vaccinated.

These guidelines apply to people 14 days after you receive the Johnson and Johnson vaccine and 14 days after you receive the second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.
