(ABC 6 News) - The Rochester Police Department says a Rochester man is accused of burglarizing a woman's home and killing her dog.
Officials were called to a home on the 1300 block of 21st NW on Wednesday morning. The RPD says a neighbor noticed the doors were open and saw the dog, a pit bull mix, floating in a pool in the backyard. The dog was sent to the University of Minnesota for a necropsy.
The RPD located Octavio Nique a few hours later and took him into custody. The woman involved is said to be known to Nique.
Nique has been charged on four counts. A felony for 2nd-degree burglary, and the mistreatment and torture of animals. As well as a gross misdemeanor harassment charge, and a misdemeanor domestic abuse charge.
