(ABC 6 News) -- A 16-year-old Rochester boy could face a second-degree assault charge after allegedly threatening a 7-year-old with a pocket knife.

The incident happened shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Monday, May 3 at Cimarron Park located at 2029 48th St. NW.

Rochester Police said a 14-year-old girl and her 7-year-old brother were playing when the 16-year-old approached the 7-year-old.

RPD said the 16-year-old allegedly pulled out a pocket knife and made comments to the 7-year-old about bullying someone and threatened to choke him.

The boy's 14-year-old sister confronted the 16-year-old and said she would call the police.

When police arrived the 16-year-old was at the scene and RPD said he had a knife that matched the description given by the other two kids.

RPD said the 16-year-old admitted to pointing the knife at them and telling the 7-year-old he thought he had been bullying somebody.

The case is being referred to the county attorney's office for charges.
