(ABC 6 News) - Back in December, Gamez and More store owner Chad Thompson said he was told by mall officials that his space was being sold to someone else.

"For a couple of months the mall has been having people coming in and looking and within those months' time the conversation has always been back and forth like okay, what is going on," said Thompson, back in January.

Thompson told us that although he was in a floating lease, he never got a clear answer from the mall as to what was going do, and when he did he said he didn't think it gave him a lot of time to find a new location.

After viewing different spaces in the area Gamez and More officially moved to the River Center Plaza.

"Took us a lot of trips back and forth from here to the mall, but now since we're done with the mall everything is more relaxed. I love the new location and not having so many restrictions," said Thompson

The store owner held a soft open on Wednesday and told us that even though the store isn't complete, they've lost too much money during their transition to remain closed. He also said though he's happy to be rid of the uncertainties that came with his former lease in the mall, the journey has been a bit stressful.

"Going from a 4,000 square foot mall down to a 2,350 sq. feet is very very draining," he said.

In order to fit into the smaller space, they have given away thousands of dollars worth of toys and games to charities just because they had nowhere to put it all, but they're working hard to bring a new fun twist to the old store.

"We have our own section for keeping all the drinks and what not and we're also getting in like a chest freezer and we have a sink back there so if people need to use it they certainly can. We have more availability here now than what we could at the other location," said Thompson.

This is why they're excited to welcome the community back to the store, with a few new additions and a brand new feel.
