(ABC 6 News) - UPDATE 12-11: The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office said the man who suffered a medical emergency was pronounced dead was a 51-year-old man. His identity has not been released.
The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office said a driver suffering from a medical emergency caused traffic to back up and a crash on Highway 63.
Sergeant Kirby Long tells ABC 6 News shortly after 2 p.m. a deputy was driving north on Hwy 63 when they noticed a vehicle on the shoulder with its hazards on. The deputy reportedly stopped to check on the driver and saw the driver was slumped over in the driver's seat and was not responsive.
Deputies were able to remove the man from the vehicle and begin CPR, but were not able to revive him.
Deputies said it appears he was suffering from some type of medical incident and pulled over, an autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
Sergeant Long said as additional first responders begin directing traffic, a vehicle was rear-ended by a box truck; three people inside the vehicle were taken to the hospital but were not seriously injured.
