Corey Koskie named guest speaker at 16th Annual Rochester Sports Banquet

(ABC 6 News) – Rochester Sports announced Tuesday, former Minnesota Twin Corey Koskie will be the guest speaker at the 16th Annual Rochester Sports Banquet.

Koskie was a major league baseball player for the Minnesota Twins, Toronto Blue Jays, and Milwaukee Brewers and was elected to the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame on Feb 4, 2015.

Koskie was born in Anola, Manitoba. He was the first Manitoba-born-and-raised player to ever reach the Major Leagues. Koskie was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 26th round of the 1994 MLB draft and subsequently made his MLB debut on September 9, 1998.

Koskie now lives in the Plymouth, Minnesota area with his wife and four sons. He is involved with many local youth sports organizations.

“We are excited to have Corey Koskie as our guest speaker,” shared Rochester Sports Executive Director Matt Esau. “Corey has an outstanding message that will definitely hit home with student-athletes and with all who attend the Rochester Sports Banquet.”

The banquet will take place on January 17, 2022, at the International Event Center.

Finalists were selected for the Rochester Sports Banquet in late November.
