(ABC 6 News) - Family, loved ones, and friends of JR Banks gathered in downtown Rochester Monday night. They held a candlelight vigil on 1st Avenue and 3rd Street where he was killed early Sunday.
Family members thanked the dozens of people who showed up. People shed tears, embraced, and at times, shared laughter while reminiscing over memories of Banks.
Candles and pictures of Banks were set up. Balloons were released into the air in his honor.
Loved ones said Banks was a nice man who looked after his family. It was revealed at the vigil that Banks was having a baby.
Community organizers called for an end to the violence and encouraged people to look after each other as a community.
Banks was 28-years-old. Community members also honored another man who was shot and is in critical condition from the attack.
A GoFundMe page has been set up on behalf of JR Bank's family, girlfriend Katie Wempner expecting baby expenses.
