(ABC 6 News) - A record number of absentee ballots will be sent out in Olmsted County once early voting begins Friday.
About 34,000 absentee ballots will be mailed out, said Katie Smith, the county's elections manager. Smith said that's the highest amount the county has sent out in its initial round of mailing.
Officials are urging you act fast if you'd like to cast your ballot as an absentee.
You can apply at anytime through the Minnesota Secretary of State's website, but ballots must be postmarked by Election Day on Nov. 3.
Voters may drop them off at the county's elections office at 2122 Campus Dr. SE. Smith said staff can also help out if voters don't feel comfortable voting inside the building.
Smith said about 500 absentee ballots were sent out during the presidential primary in March during the initial mailing round. Smith also said the county has enough poll workers signed up for Election Day.
Minnesota had the highest voter turnout in 2018, according to the secretary of state.
