(ABC 6 News) - Incumbent Paul Adams and former city councilman Max Weaver are vying for the seat for a second time. Adams was elected to office in 2016.
We sat down with both men ahead of today's election. Adams says he and his wife have lived in north Iowa their whole lives and he wants to encourage young people to stay in the area. He's also hoping to continue the local economic growth in Mason City.
Weaver says it's important to invest in people outside of the downtown area and that one of the reasons he's running again is the need for more transparency at the decision-making table.
Some other races and public measures we are following tonight include a Floyd County public measure on the Floyd County Memorial Hospital.
In Charles City at the school district, they have a pair of school board races and another public measure there as well.
Several school districts in northern Iowa will also be having elections for public measures, districts including Belmond-Klemme, Charles City, Clear Lake, Ford, Howard-Winneshiek school districts.
