(ABC 6 News)-- The government shutdown hit its second-week mark as lawmakers made their way back into Congress after the holidays. The debate on funding for the border wall is still on the table as Democrats take control of the House.
While talks are being made, the government shutdown is still stalling paychecks to federal workers who have been working without pay since the holidays.
The shutdown hit a little closer to home as Federal Medical Center local 3947 Sandy Parr told ABC 6 that all employees in FMC Rochester have not been getting paid or only receiving a partial paycheck.
"They can't pay for their daycare or gas or even buy groceries," said Parr. "And those are fundamental things that they have to have."
Federal workers from all levels in FMC are required to show up even though they will not be receiving a paycheck.
