(ABC 6 News) -- A social media post has some candidates calling for the termination of a DFL staffer.

Last week, DFL staffer William Davis responded to a Facebook post that said, “On 11.6- take back your country.” On that post, Davis commented, "On 11.7- bring them to the guillotines."

Minnesota DFL Executive Director Corey Day released a statement Monday saying, "The comment made by Davis on social media was unacceptable. The DFL offers its apologies and assurance that these types of remarks by our employees are not the way we conduct our business."

Day went on to say, “The comment Will made was an inside joke among former co-workers, but it is completely inconsistent with the standards we hold our employees to. I have spoken with Will and about our social media standards and our expectation that he use appropriate judgment when commenting and posting. He regrets the post and has deleted it."

Minnesota Attorney General Candidate Doug Wardlow was in Rochester Monday and commented on the post.

“That kind of incendiary rhetoric is completely inappropriate. It's disgusting. It debases our public discourse and it's the kind of language that could even insight violence. It's completely inappropriate. We called on the DFL to terminate Mr. Davis' employment. We need to make sure we aren't engaging in any of this back and forth in civil discourse. It's inappropriate,” Wardlow said.

Davis' comment on the Facebook post has since been deleted.
