Austin Erickson joined the ABC 6 News team as Assistant News Director in March of 2023. A Minnesota native, Austin began his broadcasting career as an on-air personality at KASM Radio in Albany broadcasting the news, weather, farm reports, and selecting the best music at The Polka Station of the Nation.
While attending Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Austin became a production intern at KFAN radio and wrote for the website, edited podcasts and assisted producers.
After graduation Austin moved to the Fargo-Moorhead area and spent time as a production assistant and producer at Valley News live before producing at WDAY and later Fox 9 in the Twin Cities.
Austin returned to Fargo-Moorhead to become the Executive Producer at KVRR for five years and enjoyed helping several young journalists improve their skills.
If he’s not diving into the DC, Marvel, Star Wars or Star Trek universes, he’s enjoying watching his Minnesota sports teams and probably getting let down by them.
