You'll have a reason to stay up way past your bedtime this weekend - the Perseid Meteor Showers peak this weekend!
This annual event happens when the earth plows through the wake of the Swift-Tuttle comet. The debris from the comet hits the atmosphere and burns as it falls to the earth, creating the meteor showers.
While you will be able to see them all weekend, the peak will occur Sunday night into early Monday morning, just after 11 pm. Look to the northern sky and be sure to pick a location away from light pollution, like city lights. It may take as much as an hour for your eyes to adjust to the darkness.
We don't have to worry at all about clouds obstructing the view. High pressure will keep those away all weekend long. Enjoy!
