We'll be keeping an eye on rain over the next 36 hours.
A low-pressure system passing through to the south will bring waves of rain through the region. The first one arrives this evening and could bring a few storms. Severe weather chances are quite low, but with any thunderstorms, they can produce a lot of rain quickly. That would be a problem.
Some locations in North Iowa saw rain overnight and picked up about 5 inches. They're still dealing with draining that water. While the rest of us mainly stayed dry, we're not completely dry. The soil is still holding lots of moisture from last week, and all of us are at some risk of flash flooding occurring if a nice, heavy, downpour develops, kind of like it did over North Iowa last night.
A widespread 1-2 inches of rain is possible, but again, thunderstorms will raise that amount.
