Winter storm impacts

After early rain/mix turns to snow on Thursday we'll deal with snow for the duration of the storm through Friday night.  This one will be a long drawn out storm that will see snow steadily add up.  An expected dry slot of air may work its way in on Friday morning to shut off the snow for a period of time before closing with more snow showers.  3-7" of snow is expected locally.  If that dry slot of air doesn't materialize we'll likely have to add some to the top end.

Wind will begin to increase Thursday mid-day.  A gust to 25-35 mph is possible but the strongest wind should finally nudge in by Friday.  That's where gusts to 35 mph look most likely.  Snow will blow a bit, but due to the 'heavy' consistency it will tend to stick a bit more rather than blow around.  Out west, I am expecting blizzard conditions in SW Minnesota and NW Iowa but those should steer clear of our local area.  This is where the worst of the conditions with this entire storm will be found, not necesarilly the highest totals though.

The travel scene will be impacted.  Slowed roads are anticipated with varying degrees difficulty through the Thursday/Friday stretch.  They'll likely be at their worst on Friday.
