Rising rivers will continue into Friday with minor flooding expected along the banks of the Cedar, Winnebago, Middle Whitewater, Middle Zumbro, Root and Dobbins Creek. While flooding is possible it mainly impacts agricultural or other low lying areas. Ice jamming, if it occurs would lead to a more rapid and higher rises. Pay close attention to water levels.
Poor drainage is causing far more issues with respect to covered culverts and water covering roads. Remember to stay out of flooded areas. These conditions will likely continue through Friday as well.
Our snow pack has dwindled from 16" on Tuesday to 6" on Thursday. That snow is still trapping about 2" (and in some locations close to 3") of water equivalent. The melt will continue in coming days but at a slower pace which is ideal. At night, temperatures will be below freezing to slow the process. But by day we'll melt a bit more.
