Vehicle Search Reveals Fanny Pack Filled with Ecstasy

(ABC 6 News) - Two people were arrested late Friday night after a routine traffic stop turned into multiple alleged offenses. 

According to Rochester Police Lieutenant Mike Sadauskis, an officer saw a a vehicle turn into the incorrect lane, at the intersection of 6th Street and 13th Avenue SE. The officer pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road.

Sadauskis said the officer smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle when he addressed the driver, and discovered that the driver had a revoked license. He was cited for an improper right turn, Driving After Revocation (DAR) and no proof of insurance.

The four total occupants were asked to leave the vehicle for a search, due to the smell of marijuana. During the search, Sadauskis said officers found an open bottle of Hennessy liquor and a fanny pack with 51 tablets of ecstasy stamped with various cartoon symbols like Superman, Hello Kitty, a lightening bolt, etc in the front passenger floor board. According to a police report, officers also found a bag with 4 grams of marijuana in the rear passenger door. 

Officers arrested the front seat passenger, 19-year-old Victoria King of Rochester at the scene, and released her after 48 hours. King is facing possible charges of second-degree substance crime sales, third-degree substance crime possession, an underage person in possession of liquor, and open bottle violation.  

Another passenger, 35-year-old Terry Heggs of Rochester was arrested on a warrant out of Olmsted County. Sadauskis said Heggs was recently brought back from Montana for transporting illegal drugs.
