(ABC 6 News) -- A 36-year-old man suffered multiple substantial injuries after his vehicle went airborne before hitting a tree and a parked truck along Highway 56 in Mower County early Friday morning.

According to the Mower County Sheriff's Office, law enforcement was called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 56, north of Interstate 90, at 2:13 a.m.

Deputies found a 2013 Ford F150 flipped onto its roof and the driver partially ejected with his legs pinned underneath, Mower County Chief Deputy Mark May said.

The Sheriff's Office preliminary investigation found the driver, Erik Pehrson, was heading south on Highway 56 when he left the roadway, struck a driveway and went airborne for 100 feet. Pehrson then hit a tree about 10 feet off the ground, knocking limbs off the tree.

Pehrson's truck then crashed into an unoccupied 1993 Ford pickup that was parked in another driveway.

Pehrson was taken to Mayo Clinic Hospital Saint Marys for his injuries. Gold Cross and Mayo One were called to the scene.

The Minnesota State Patrol said Pehrson was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. A Mayo Clinic spokeswoman says Pehrson was listed in serious condition as of 10:50 a.m. Friday.
