(ABC 6 News)--  On Tuesday, Albert Lea Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash near the intersection of Main Street East and Prospect Avenue. 

Officers determined that a 2018 Nissan Sentra was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Main Street East when it struck a 2015 Jeep Wrangler traveling westbound.

The driver of the Nissan Sentra, Susanne Lindahl (57) and her passenger Rudi Marker (58) both of Denmark, were trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by Albert Lea Fire Rescue. Both Lindahl and Marker were transported by Mayo Ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System-Albert Lea (MCHS-Albert Lea) with serious injuries. 

The driver of the Jeep Wrangler, Emerald Wangen (22) of Albert Lea, was transported by personal vehicle to MCHS-Albert Lea with minor injuries.

The Albert Lea Police Department was assisted by the Minnesota State Patrol, Albert Lea Fire Rescue and Mayo Ambulance.

The crash is still under investigation and an update will be provided at a later time.
