UPDATE: Charles City Firefighter Dies From Injuries Sustained in Motorcycle Crash

(ABC 6 News) - UPDATE: 9/18/19 - According to Charles City Fire and Rescue, John Carpenter passed away Monday. 

Carpenter suffered serious injuries from a motorcycle crash that happened on August 24th. 


Carpenter had been a firefighter with Charles City Fire and Rescue since October 2017, he was also a member of Floyd County Search and Rescue.

(ABC 6 News) -- Two Charles City residents were seriously injured in a motorcycle crash in Mitchell County on Saturday.

Iowa State Patrol says the crash took place at West Main Street and East Commercial Street in Mitchell County. Authorities say John Carpenter was negotiating a left hand curve when he lost control of the bike and left the roadway. He struck multiple trees and was ejected. Carpenter was airlifted to Mercy One in Mason City. His passenger, Ashley Carpenter, who is also from Charles City was ejected from the motorcycle and landed in the ditch. She suffered serious injuries and was brought by ambulance to the Mitchell County Hospital.
