Now that the falling snow & blowing snow is over, we are dealing with the very cold air moving in from the north. Temperatures out the door Tuesday morning will be just below-zero for many of us, with wind chills even colder, in the -20 to -25 range. Both the temperatures & wind chills will be the coldest in areas that saw more snow from Monday. Sub-zero wind chills stay with us all-day, with highs in the single digits, meaning our shiver factor for today will be a high 7 out of 10. Be sure to dress yourself and the kiddos in layers today, as they are heading out to a very cold wait for the bus this morning and afternoon. If you have to be outside for an extended period of time, not only layer up, but cover up your hands, face, and head as best as you can. And again, even though the snow and blowing snow is over, roads remain rather icy and slick in many places, even the main stretches of roads. Be sure to go slow, allow extra space between you and the vehicle ahead of you, and never use cruise control with road conditions such as ours this morning. Even though we'll see dry stretches, once you encounter the icy spots, that's when your vehicle could spin out. It's also a good idea to remember the winter survival kit for the vehicle, and make sure the gas tank is above half full, just in case you become stranded for whatever reason with cold air like this.
